Education and Training

I received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Montana. Before choosing to pursue my Masters in Social Work. My career began in HIV/AIDS care and advocacy in Washington DC and Boston. I completed my training at Boston University School of Social Work in 2011, receiving my MSW with specializations in trauma and group work.
Experience
Since finishing my degree, I have worked in community based settings providing individual and group level clinical services to individuals and other human services professionals. My experience includes helping clients with emotional and social stressors associated with chronic disease management including HIV/AIDS, diabetes and heart disease, those coping with life changes, substance use disorder, aging and unresolved grief. My areas of clinical interst include: hoarding disorder, HIV/AIDS and aging, harm reduction frameworks, mental health for health workers and clinicians, compassion fatiuge and burnout among professionals.

I continue to work in a community based setting supporting homeless women who are experiencing persistant, undertreated mental illness and people who use drugs. I approach this work utlizing a harm reduction frame work and person centered approach. I also enjoy providing clinical supervision hours to masters level social workers seeking licensure. I started my private practice in 2020 in response to the growing need for providers of individual therapy. The perilousness of the world can cause what feels like insurmountable worry, anxiety and uncertainty. It can also challenge you sense of self and purpose. I wanted to create a practice that would use my skills of working in communities often impacted by large systems to help more people to experience restoration of faith in themselves to live a full life.
